The Falcon - Unicornography

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

SHIT!  I was looking across last.fm tonite and saw someone had a link up to download the new Falcon record - unicornography. It comes out on sept 26th. My initial impression thus far, this fucking rocks! Be sure you buy it, it will be well worth the 10-12 bucks especially because there are 2 unicorns on the cover!

New Amsterdams - story like a scar

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

So i was planning on writing a real review for this record but at this point I have decided to say fuck it. Anyways I like and I am only writing this so I have it for reference later.

Murder by Death - In Bocca Al Lupo

Thursday, June 1st, 2006

The new murder by death is by far their best yet. It has its slow moments, its fast moments and its pirate moment.

The Cardinal Sin - Hurry Up & Wait

Thursday, April 20th, 2006

Ok so i mentioned the preorder & demos awhile back. I received mine a few weeks ago and have been listening to the record non stop. Like I have said before I am terrible at writing reviews so I am not going to try. I will tell you that I loved the ep and the split 7″. The full length is just as good if not better. You can stream the album at alt press or go to their myspace for more. Anyways this goes in to my “fav of 2006 category”

Ghost Buffalo s/t cd

Wednesday, February 8th, 2006

I preordered the Ghost Buffalo cd awhile back and I am currently waiting for it to arrive. I think it should be here any day. I did however get an mp3 copy of the record from a friend and its good, really good. The quality is great so much better than the Little Thunder EP. I am not going to get in to what this band sounds like and so on because genres are just lame and tend to keep people away from music. Check out the Little Thunder EP or go to their website or myspace and hear some tracks. You can order the record here…and no i wont send you any tracks from it ya lazy ass.

Ghost Buffalo sounds like it might be a throwback to 1970s West Coast country. And it is, sort of: Singer/guitarist Marie Litton sounds linked in psychic and sonic empathy with the aching twang of early Linda Ronstadt. But the fact that two of the four members of Planes Mistaken for Stars — guitarist Matt Bellinger and drummer Mike Ricketts — are counted among the group’s lineup is plainly apparent. Instead of Planes’ trademark uproar, though, Bellinger and Ricketts bring to the table a penchant for tension and complexity that plucks post-hardcore and replants it in a bone-dry landscape full of tumbleweeds, rumbling skies and the cavernous expanses of loneliness and loss. This isn’t your dad’s honky-tonk, your uncle’s cow punk or even your ex-lover’s alt-country; rather, Ghost Buffalo lends an anxious heart and fresh, tender soul to the country-rock tradition (Westword, 7/29/04).
