Gay Marriage - Oh the Human-on-Manity

Monday, June 12th, 2006

SO maybe I am missing something and if i am please point me in the right direction. I continue to hear conservatives say they are against gay marriage because they want to “preserve the sanctitity of marriage” In all their speeches they go on about how people are better and kids are happier with a mother and father in their lives. First off how is stopping two people from getting married preserving the sanctity of marriage? Why should the government try and decide who sleeps with whom? What do kids have to do with this? If say a lesbian couple wanted to have a kid they could find a donor through whatever means and get pregnant. A gay male couple could do the same. People will make deals with people no matter what. The government cannot stop anyone from becoming a parent. Its a very simple process that only takes two people. The only reason gay marriage amendments have even been brought up recently is to help a faltering republican party get a confidence boost from voters.

Gay Marriage is NOT a government issue.

If you want to say marriage is a government issue because its a legal issue then lets look at it this way. Marriage is a contract based on love. The two people involved in this contract are commited to taking care of each other, loving each other, etc etc. Denying gay marriage is no different than denying interracial marriage. Two people are commited to each other,  it shouldnt matter whats in between their legs just like it shouldnt matter what race they are.  If churchs dont want to marry gay couples then so be it. That is their choice. There will always be a church, justice of the peace, whatever that will.

Hypebot - Emusic Interview

Monday, June 12th, 2006

Interesting interview with emusic over at hypebot. Recently emusic added the White Stripes back catalog to their selection. I downloaded all of it. In fact it seems like a lot of people did. I hope this means more majors will get on the emusic bandwagon and start releasing more DRM free music.

iFloyd

Wednesday, June 7th, 2006

so Fat wreck released a new comp “cd” called iFloyd. Its a completey legal and free download available here. You can listen to each song one at a time or you can download the entire playlist.

Problems - So im not in to all the bands on this maybe 1/2 - 1/3 and a couple of the tracks I already have. I still have to download the whole thing to get the tracks I want. I understand that this makes me get the tracks I dont want and hopefully (in fats eyes) get in to something im not already in to. Download time is super slow. Everyones guess from what I read is server issues. Im not sure if Fat got a bigger rush of users than they originally thought of if their servers just suck. A saw some talk of people having problems opening it. I didnt have this problem, just the slow download.

I would love to see this on emusic but there are some problems the big one being fat isnt on there (yet - hopefully soon) Every free comp download on emusic I come across I download. In my opinion, Why not? I may find something new or something that i overlooked in the past that I like now. Take the Anti Record sampler for instance.  Its free, I have nothing to lose and I can get more tracks from any of the artists I like direct from emusic. Itunes integration would be awesome too but its puts DRM on the files and they will only play on an iPod or in itunes. Yes you can burn the tracks to cd but why do that?

Anyways go start your download and come back in a few hours and it should be ready. I applaud Fat for making their comp free and easily (to a degree) accesible but I do hope they rethink how they distribute it in the future.
