so Fat wreck released a new comp “cd” called iFloyd. Its a completey legal and free download available here. You can listen to each song one at a time or you can download the entire playlist.
Problems - So im not in to all the bands on this maybe 1/2 - 1/3 and a couple of the tracks I already have. I still have to download the whole thing to get the tracks I want. I understand that this makes me get the tracks I dont want and hopefully (in fats eyes) get in to something im not already in to. Download time is super slow. Everyones guess from what I read is server issues. Im not sure if Fat got a bigger rush of users than they originally thought of if their servers just suck. A saw some talk of people having problems opening it. I didnt have this problem, just the slow download.
I would love to see this on emusic but there are some problems the big one being fat isnt on there (yet - hopefully soon) Every free comp download on emusic I come across I download. In my opinion, Why not? I may find something new or something that i overlooked in the past that I like now. Take the Anti Record sampler for instance. Its free, I have nothing to lose and I can get more tracks from any of the artists I like direct from emusic. Itunes integration would be awesome too but its puts DRM on the files and they will only play on an iPod or in itunes. Yes you can burn the tracks to cd but why do that?
Anyways go start your download and come back in a few hours and it should be ready. I applaud Fat for making their comp free and easily (to a degree) accesible but I do hope they rethink how they distribute it in the future.
